Injury updates and analysis
Gladbach still without a point
Borussia Mönchengladbach remain without a point after four rounds of the Bundesliga and sit bottom of the table. The team have lost every match, most recently falling 4-3 to Mainz. Gladbach have already conceded 16 goals, more than any other side in the league.
Union are getting closer to the bottom of the table
Union Berlin have had a very difficult start to the season. After four matchdays, Mauro Lustrinelli’s side are still without a win and sit 17th in the table with one point. They lost 0-7 to Bayern Munich in the last round, having suffered two consecutive defeats before that.
Another blow for Leipzig
RB Leipzig lost 0-2 to Bayer Leverkusen, with the team’s injury situation attracting attention. Brajan Gruda had to leave the pitch with an injury in the first half. The attacking player was substituted in the 26th minute, joining the group of players Martín Demichelis is currently unable to call upon.
Augsburg dealing with squad problems
FC Augsburg went into the match against Werder with several players missing, and the situation has not improved. Manuel Baum’s side still have to make do without Anton Kade, who is dealing with a muscle injury. Sima Suso, Faik Sakar, Steve Mounié and Tim Breithaupt also remain sidelined. None of the six made the squad for the match in Bremen.
Undav is back in the starting lineup
Deniz Undav returned to Stuttgart’s starting lineup for the match against Borussia Dortmund. The VfB captain began the previous game against Hoffenheim on the bench, but was back in the starting XI against the league leaders. He failed to find the net, however. Stuttgart held on to a goalless draw for a long time, but conceded late on after Maximilian Beier scored.
Hoffenheim are seeking stability
Hoffenheim failed to build on their win over Stuttgart. Christian Ilzer’s side had won 2:1 the previous week, with Adam Hložek scoring both goals. In Paderborn, however, the Czech forward failed to find the net and his team lost 1:3. After four rounds, Hoffenheim have three points and sit 14th in the table.
