Paris Saint-Germain begin the 2026/2027 season as French champions. The Parisians claimed their fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title last season, and Luis Enrique has remained in charge. The Spaniard can therefore continue developing the team without a major squad overhaul. The core of the side is still made up of among others. Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Vitinha, João Neves, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. PSG will once again be competing on several fronts, so squad depth will be important throughout the season.
This will be another season in Paris for Luis Enrique. The coach knows his players' abilities well and can focus on further developing the approaches that proved successful last season. The club has retained the most important elements of the team and also extended the contracts of several players, including João Neves, Willian Pacho, Lucas Beraldo and Senny Mayulu.
PSG continue to focus on rejuvenating the squad. Alongside the more experienced players, those who could spend years playing in Paris are expected to have an increasingly important say. Enrique must, however, manage their minutes appropriately, particularly during a congested fixture schedule, and ensure that younger players gradually receive more opportunities.
One of the most important signings was the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco. The 24-year-old Frenchman can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, giving Enrique another option when selecting his team. Akliouche has impressed in Ligue 1 and will now compete for a place in the French champions' side. Mika Godts has also joined the club. The Belgian arrived from Ajax after an excellent previous season, in which he scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions. PSG have also signed Ferran Torres from Barcelona. The Spaniard can play in several attacking positions, increasing competition in that area.
PSG have strengthened the left side of their defence by signing Lucas Digne. The Frenchman has returned to Paris after ten years and will compete with Nuno Mendes for a place in the team. Marquinhos, Willian Pacho and Lucas Beraldo remain key figures in central defence. There have also been changes in goal. 18-year-old Alessandro Longoni has joined from Milan, and the club has plans for his future. The Italian adds depth to the goalkeeping department and is primarily expected to gain experience and develop in his new surroundings.
PSG said goodbye to several attacking players over the summer. The biggest transfer was Bradley Barcola's move to Liverpool. The Frenchman spent three seasons in Paris and regularly played an important role in attack. Gonçalo Ramos moved to AC Milan, Lee Kang-in joined Atlético Madrid, and Ibrahim Mbaye signed for Aston Villa.
Randal Kolo Muani also left the club permanently. The Frenchman was first loaned to Juventus before spending a season on loan at Tottenham. In summer 2026, the Italian club decided to sign him permanently. So many departures mean changes to the attacking pecking order under Luis Enrique and give the new arrivals a chance to take on responsibility in attack.
With a congested fixture schedule, Enrique will need more players capable of performing at a high level. In midfield, Fabián Ruiz and Warren Zaïre-Emery join Vitinha and João Neves, while Senny Mayulu is pushing for a bigger role. The coach has several options in attack, and Akliouche, Godts and Torres are expected to help compensate for the departures.
PSG have retained most of their first-choice team, while their summer signings have added depth in several positions. Luis Enrique will once again be tasked with defending the French title and competing in the Champions League. With a congested fixture schedule, much will depend on the form of the entire squad and whether the substitutes can provide support for the starting XI.
